Resume Preparation Tips

  1. Collect 100 sample resumes from the office Admin
  2. Choose your own template. Do remember you need to be unique in this world in everything you do, whether your resume, the projects or the skill set presentation
  3. Should not have more than 3 pages
  4. Have at least 12 to 15 points in Summary
  5. Delete objective of the profile. Most of the times it is copied one. Resume should have only your data
  6. Always show minimum of 5 years automation experience or Total experience minus 2, which ever is higher
  7. Need to update your resume on all the job portals at least twice a week, Resumes updated recently are always on top in recruiters search
  8. Collect all the Job openings emails you are receiving from different HRs or Job Portals and move them to a separate folder in Gmail
  9. Target to apply 20 Jobs every day by email and 150 per month by Job sites such as Naukri and Monster. If you are not receiving 20 Job emails every day, Keep updating for the older requirements from the collected emails
  10. Send your resume to every HR email address you get irrespective of the technology the HR is recruiting. We never know the colleague of HR may be recruiting the QA engineers and your profile can be forwarded by the HR
  11. Spend 3 hours a week on your resume and interview yourself to check whether you are able to talk about each point mentioned in your resume comfortably
  12. Target to fail at least 8 interviews as soon as possible. Believe us, nothing else can help you getting a job faster
  13. Update your resume as soon as you acquire a new skill. Use Job descriptions of various jobs you are receiving for the proper presentation of the skills on your resume
  14. Never think about the immediate result for your activities but focus on the process. Don't worry, You are in the right hands and your career will be taken care of
  15. Target to attend at least 1 interview in a week. It doesn't matter whether Job profile is matching to your skills. Goal is to fail not to succeed. We learn most things faster when failed
  16. Never worry that you may miss an opportunity with a great company if you fail to clear an interview. No company is bad in this world as long as you are paid salary on time. Every company requirement is different and the strategies are different, you will learn something on giving an interview
  17. Never focus on specific company. What you think good today may not be good tomorrow. Even Microsoft, Google and all big companies are laying off the employees, Pay Check and career is more important than the Brand name
  18. Never read the job description before you attend an interview. You are learning most important skills that any tester needed. Just attend without worrying much about the skills mentioned in JD. No manager will ask anything out of your resume and you are 100% good to go with the resume
  19. Note down all the questions asked in an interview after getting home. Spend an hour to analyse what went wrong, what you could have done better. Document and discuss the next day in the class
  20. Sign up/subscribe for a couple Testing blogs/You Tube channels  though you know you will not read any of them. News letters from these blogs help you remind that you lack skills to advance in your career. Going forward all the jobs are highly technical and we all need to showcase that you are a techie
